WHAT IS RE DI ROMA?

What’s in a Name?

A Roman piazza. A ring. And the moment Re Di Roma was born.

Re Di Roma Wood-Fired Pizza Truck isn’t just a business—it’s a love letter to a place, a memory, and a moment that changed everything.

In 2015, Re Di Roma owners Oualid and Kristen met in Rome. Oualid had already spent over a decade in the Eternal City, working as a pizzaiolo and mastering the craft of traditional Italian pizza. Their connection was instant—an unexpected spark in a city famous for its beauty, romance, and slow meals that stretch long into the night.

The name Re Di Roma comes from Piazza dei Re di Roma, the Roman square near Oualid’s apartment in the San Giovanni neighborhood. It was here, on cobblestone streets scented with espresso and fresh bread, that their love story unfolded. Oualid even bought Kristen’s engagement ring from a small jewelry shop in the piazza—making it not just a place, but a turning point in both of their lives.

The Piazza That Inspired It All

Tucked into the Tuscolano quarter, Piazza dei Re di Roma—"Square of the Kings of Rome"—is steeped in history and local charm. Once a convergence point for ancient and medieval roads, it has long served as a cultural crossroads. Its architecture reflects the layered beauty of Rome itself, blending influences from the Ancient, Renaissance, and Baroque periods.

Today, the piazza remains a bustling, welcoming space, surrounded by cafés, markets, and restaurants—a place where tradition and everyday life coexist. A space where people gather, celebrate, and share good food. Just like our events. Just like our pizza.

So when it came time to name their food truck—a 24-foot mobile kitchen with a copper-tiled Valoriani oven imported from Italy—Oualid and Kristen knew exactly what to call it.

Re Di Roma isn’t just where their story began.
It’s how they share it with you.
